Presents can be hard to choose- for that special person you're willing to spend a bit more money on, especially. From personal experience, practical presents are always highly appreciated. Your friends that just moved and wants to decorate their new abode will appreciate a coffee table book, poster or framed picture more than the already settled ones. Have a friend that's somewhat of a jetsetter? How about a jumper for that skiing trip, a lightweight travel bag or a pair of sunglasses for a more tropical location? Another favorited of mine are candles. Everybody loves a good candle.
