Every time the calendar marks a new year, humans around the world convince themselves that everything will be different for 20xx. And once December of 20xx comes around, they make the same empty promises again. This year, I have managed to achieve about half of the things on my 'new years resolutions list', but that's because they were small steps I knew I could do. Here are some suggestions of goals that are relatively easy to achieve for 2015.
1. Find out your actual bra size
Go to a lingerie store, ask the sales assistant for help and get measured up. Many women don't know what their actual bra size is, since it can change with weight gains or losses and simply because it's easier to wear the old bra you know kind of still fits. Treat yourself girl- there's nothing like that new bra-with-matching-undies-feeling.
2. Figure out a skincare routine and stick to it
Your skin is your largest organ, and also your most visible one. Take care of it! Promise yourself to use a daily moisturiser with SPF, wash your make-up off at night time, do at home facials and pay attention to how your skin reacts to factors like your diet, drinking habits and skincare products you use.
3. Write letters and postcards
Sending a handwritten letter costs very little and yet it means so much. In a time where emails, texts and Facebook chats have replaced the letter and even phone calls, I find it hard to keep up with people even though the possibility is there every time i use my computer. I will try to send at least one letter to each of my dear friends this year.
4. Save money, even if it is only a small amount
Perhaps the most challenging of all New Year's resolutions. It's important to be realistic about how much money you can actually put aside. It doesn't matter if you have a set figure in your head, if you want to save 10% of your earnings or if you only put your lose change into a glass jar, money is money. A penny found is a penny saved!
5. Eat as well as you can
Last year I promised myself to drink less soda and eat less candy. The latter was harder than I expected, but I still cut down on sugar and artificial sweeteners by avoiding soft drinks and replacing them with water and tea. Yet I am not afraid to indulge in great food when I feel like it. A breakfast smoothie with kale and spirulina is my way to make up for an unhealthy binge. Make your focus your health and wellbeing, not your weight or size.
