Trends I wish were still 'a thing'

I currently have a minor obsession with Nike Dunk Sky Hi, the highstreet version of the Isabel Marant wedge sneaker. I really feel that my quality of life would improve if i could pretend to be 5'9" while wearing sneakers. But I also feel like they're not a thing at all and really wish that they were because 5'7.5" isn't cutting it anymore. Although I am well aware of girls still owning this look I am convinced I can't without going back to 2012. A few other trends I missed out on:

1. Flared pants

2.Denim skirts (I own one, undecided on it)

3. Juicy Couture tracksuits - I'm not even joking

Reasons I couldn't jump on the bandwagon back in the day
-I was too young
-I was too poor
-It was age inappropriate or my parent's wouldn't let me
Reasons I can't wear these trends now
-I feel too old
-They don't represent my style, but rather something I wish was my style
-still too poor
-not age appropriate anymore
Do you recognise this dilemma? Since we're currently experiencing a 90s revival, it'll probably only be another 3 years until the '00s are trending again. You can always believe in second chances. What are some trends you wish were still a thing?

Can Gisele actually surf? Chanel no 5 film

Am I the only person who wonders if Gisele Bündchen really is such a surfer babe? Was this actually filmed on green screen? Who is the stunt woman? I really want to know. I also want a Chanel wetsuit and surfboard so that I can finally overcome my fear of sharks, fish, every animal in the ocean and the ocean itself- to learn surfing. Bündchen looks #flawless and the short film is very Great Gatsby meets Australia. It's the brand's second collaboration with Australian director Baz Luhrman.

Statement Sweaters

As obnoxious as it seems to attach the prefix 'statement' to anything that's currently 'trendy', I cannot think of a better way to describe sweaters that just scream 'look at me'. The hype started with Kenzo's embroidered tiger, then the 'BOY LONDON' and 'comme des fuckdown' sweaters in 2012. In 2013 Cara Delevigne and teens alike sported fake brand-name sweaters. This year, inspired by Alexander Wang's semi-transparent 'Parental Advisory' T-shirts and Sweatshirts can be found at any High Street retailer. If you like, those cashmere knits and cotton jerseys are nothing but glamorised gym wear and there's no denying that gym apparel is incredibly comfortable- as long as you're not exercising in it. When I put on that perfectly worn-in sweatshirt on, I feel like wearing a safety-blanket. An easy way to dress down a miniskirt or denim cut-offs, or just to make an otherwise average outfit pop- don't underestimate the power of the statement sweater.

Copy Cats: Model StreetStyle

Model Hedwig Palm's super relaxed button-down and chino look is refreshingly simple and easy to recreate. Less is more is the motto, especially when you're in a rush. Note to self: try this look instead of your typical jeans and old sweater look that I wear way to often when I can't be bothered to put together a proper outfit.

Model Hanne Gaby's streetstyle looks are some of the most photographed- this girl knows how to dress. If you don't have a red pleather or leather skirt yet, this autumn might be the perfect time to invest in one. The sexy, yet appropriate because of it's length skirt can be easily dressed up with a blazer, or dressed down, with a simple white tee.

Minimalist Fashion: Bassike opens in Melbourne CBD

Sydney label Bassike has just opened a new store in the Melbourne CBD, which can be found on number 1 Rankins Lane. The brand philosophy is to design everyday pieces that work as well with a pair of flip-flops (or Birkenstocks) as in a structured wardrobe. My favourite looks from their Spring/Summer 2014 collection:

Deng & Mayom

Designers Iman Deng and Suzie Mayom from Brisbane have made their way down to Melbourne to present their new collection in form of a runway presentation. While using African fabrics and prints, the cuts of their garments are en par with current trends in Europe. Here my favourite behind-the-scenes-shots- taken by me.
