Local Labels to love: SIR the label

Every now and then when I am browsing the web while drinking tea, eating too much and lazing around in bed, I make a great discovery online. SIR the Label is one of them. Although I couldn't find if they had any brick and mortar stockists, or when the label was founded, there is a pop-up store for you to check out till April 9th on 189 Bondi Rd, Bondi. Make your way down to stock up on minimalistic, feminine wardrobe essentials.

Gemma and Naia Ward for Country Road

Country Road is one of the most iconic Australian brands, and it's only fitting that Gemma Ward, one of the biggest Australian models since Elle McPherson, stars in their new campaign for her comeback to the modelling world after walking for Prada's Spring Summer 2015. Since Gemma is also a mother to a daughter, Naia, who is making her modelling debut, posing in her mother's arms. The campaign is so natural and really shows how well Ward is doing now- she literally glows. A new start for Gemma Ward? I hope to see her beautiful face on covers again.

Minimalist Fashion: Bassike opens in Melbourne CBD

Sydney label Bassike has just opened a new store in the Melbourne CBD, which can be found on number 1 Rankins Lane. The brand philosophy is to design everyday pieces that work as well with a pair of flip-flops (or Birkenstocks) as in a structured wardrobe. My favourite looks from their Spring/Summer 2014 collection:

Ellery Spring Summer 2015

 

Australian label Ellery has gained a lot of popularity here- without doubt the label is one of the best emerging from down under. For Spring/Summer '15 though, they seem to have been inspired by Celine Fall '13, or is it just me that recognizes the crossed-arms going on? Yes, they are ever so slightly different but the similarity is too obvious- more originality please. 

Deng & Mayom

Designers Iman Deng and Suzie Mayom from Brisbane have made their way down to Melbourne to present their new collection in form of a runway presentation. While using African fabrics and prints, the cuts of their garments are en par with current trends in Europe. Here my favourite behind-the-scenes-shots- taken by me.

New stores in Melbourne: ACNE studios

At the Strand, a shopping complex attached to the Emporium and accessible from Elizabeth street and Little Bourke Street is soon opening one of my favorite boutiques, Acne studios. Their previous store was located at the iconic Melbourne GPO, which has now been turned into an H&M. You can tell that the Swedes are taking over Melbourne's fashion scene- and I love it.

New Stores in Melbourne: Dion Lee

Melbourne is Australia's shopping capital. Many new and exciting stores are yet to open (Cos! Acne!) and now Sydney label Dion Lee has opened its second store at the Emporium. The minimalist, raw design of the store is a bit stark to begin with, but their cool clothes and symmetric layout  will catch your eye.
